Car Blast Near Delhi Red Fort Metro Station Kills 8, Injures 24

A blast occurred in a car near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi, killing at least 8 to 10 people and injuring over 20 others. The explosion caused multiple vehicles nearby to catch fire and led to a significant emergency response.

The explosion happened near Gate 1 of the Lal Qila (Red Fort) metro station in a crowded area of Old Delhi. The blast was powerful enough to damage several vehicles, including three autorickshaws, which caught fire. Emergency responders arrived soon after the explosion, and many victims were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital with serious injuries, some in critical condition.
The blast occurred in a slow-moving or parked vehicle at a red light, and the cause is still under investigation. Authorities, including Delhi Police and the Home Ministry, are examining CCTV footage and investigating the incident from multiple angles. No confirmed terror angle has been declared yet, though investigations are ongoing.
The incident comes shortly after the seizure of nearly 3,000 kg of explosives near Delhi, raising concerns about security. The Red Fort is a historic 17th-century Mughal-era monument and a prominent tourist attraction, making the area densely populated and highly sensitive. This tragic blast has triggered heightened security alerts across Delhi and Mumbai as officials continue to investigate.
